AFGL CLUBS GUIDELINES
SEASON 2025-2026
Introduction
The American FootGolf League (AFGL) establishes these guidelines for the 2025-2026 season to ensure fair play, competitiveness, and club development..
Joining a Club
-
New players can join any club, at any point, during the season if they are first-time AFGL players or have never been part of an AFGL club.

International players moving to the US for an extended stay (e.g., student/work visa) can join if they are not part of another league or club and are active AFGL members.
Transfers
-
Transfer window: Between the end of the last tournament of Season 2024-2025 and before the first event of the new season. (June 16th-July 11th for 2025-202 Season)

Presidents have exclusive authority to confirm player releases and acceptances.

Players signed to a club cannot transfer to another Club during the season or after the transfer period.

The current president has 24 hours to respond to the AFGL's final transfer request. If a club refuses to release a player, they must provide just cause, such as outstanding financial obligations. The AFGL reviews the reason and reserves the right to authorize the transfer if necessary. If the president fails to respond by the Transfer Window's end, the AFGL may process the transfer
Free Agents
Types of Free Agents:
- Mid-season Free Agent
- Transfer Window Free Agent
- New to AFGL Free Agent
- Extended Free Agent (a player that has been a free agent for 1 full season or more)
Free Agent Rules:
- A New Player or Free Agent who never played for a club can join a club and start adding points at any time.
- Players that are registered as Free Agents BEFORE a transfer window are allowed to join and fully participate in all club events in the coming season.
Rules for Mid-Season Free Agents:
1. Players who become free agents mid-season can join a club at any time, but they are not allowed to compete with or for that Club in any AFGL/FIFG-affiliated team competition until the start of the next season. They will compete as a free agent until the start of the new season.
2. All points accumulated prior to a mid-season transfer stay with the previous Club.
3. A mid-season Free agent is NOT allowed to accumulate points for their new club until the start of the next season.
Player Status

Club members inactive for under three years may rejoin their active AFGL Club by renewing their expired AFGL/FIFG World Tour License.

After a 3-year inactivity period following license expiration, players automatically transition to Free Agent status, allowing them to join a new club or rejoin their previous club at any time during the season (e.g., expiration in December 2022 leads to Free Agent status in January 2026).

If a club folds, dissolves or ceases operations, all its players will be designated as Free Agents.
Club Merger Guidelines

Both club presidents must agree and sign off.

Only presidents can finalize mergers.

Member players cannot make mergers official.
-
Mergers require club dissolution.
Club Name Change Rules
-
One Season waiting period required.
-
Clubs can submit new name requests during the season.
-
Name changes take effect at the end of the season.
Additional Requirements
-
AFGL will follow FIFG guidelines as they move to Clubs being officially registered businesses.

New clubs must register and play as Recreational during one season before applying for the First Division status.

Clubs are required to host two AFGL-100 Tournaments during the season. Failure to do so will result in suspension from participating in The Nationals.
Definitions

New Club: New registered Club name in AFGL registration.

Different Club: Changes in name, players, or registration.
Club Name Changes

Mergers require club dissolution.

Name changes must be verified.

Reasons for Name Change:
a. Enhanced branding and recognition
b. Improved clarity and simplicity
c. Expansion of scope or services
d. Sponsorship or partnership opportunities
e. Rebranding for growth or transitioning to a registered business
Participation Requirements
-
Clubs must participate in all AFGL major tournaments (Desert Storm, Las Vegas Open, The Nationals, and U.S. Open) with at least one player from any category.

U.S. players must be AFGL affiliated players with an active FIFG World Tour License.

Canadian players must have an active FIFG World Tour license and be in good standing with the Canadian FootGolf Association to compete in the AFGL Clubs First Division. Non-affiliated players, those competing in other FootGolf club leagues, or affiliated with countries other than the USA or Canada are ineligible.

U.S. players must wear the AFGL, AFGL Tour, or AFGL Club logo on their Club uniforms.

Club uniforms must incorporate the AFGL Tour logo into their design.

Non-affiliated Club logos, or any FootGolf Logos not affiliated to the FIFG are not allowed during AFGL Tour competitions and events.

U.S. National Champion Clubs are exclusively authorized to display a star outside their logo for each championship title won, symbolizing their outstanding achievements.

All club players and caddies must take the AFGL Rules Quiz before their first competition. No exceptions

Players must follow the Federation for International FootGolf rules and guidelines.
Club Championship • General Information

Due to the announcement of the FIFG World Cup Acapulco 2026 • Dates and Details TBD, but will be after the FIFG FootGolf World Cup Acapulco 2026.

Canadian FootGolf Clubs are welcome to participate as guests until a national Canadian Clubs competition is established.

Only American clubs are eligible to receive the title of U.S. National Champion and represent the country.
Club Ranking System
The 2025-2026 Ranking System kicks off with July 2025 tournaments.
AFGL Club Ranking System for 2025-2026
Overview
-
The American FootGolf League (AFGL) introduces the Club Ranking System, aiming to promote competition and excellence among member clubs. This system launches with initial season ranking points from July 2025.

Club Ranking Points AFGL 1000s, 500s, and 250s:
-
Determined by players participating in tournaments from each club.
-
Each player earns points from the FIFG North America Region Ranking.
-
Points are added to the club's total.
-
All players' points count towards the Club Ranking.
AFGL 100s
-
Each club receives points earned by players from the FIFG North America Region Ranking.
-
All players' points count towards the Club Ranking.
-
Addition: Canada will host two FIFG-100s counting towards AFGL Clubs First Division.
Ranking Timeline

Initial ranking points from July 2025 through June 2026.

Points earned in each AFGL tournament will accumulate towards The Nationals 2026.

Rankings will be updated monthly.

If a Senior Man or Senior Man Plus is playing down a division they must stay in that division throughout all matches. i.e. If a Senior Man Plus plays as a Senior Man they must play as a Senior Man through all Club Matches.

Tiebreakers
-
In head-to-head competition, the winner advances; otherwise, if clubs didn't meet or tied, the tiebreaker procedure (#2) will be applied.

If two or more clubs are tied on match points, the club that won the most holes in their matches will advance

If the tie persists after counting holes won, the winner is determined by penalty putts, where either 5 players from each team take 1 putt or 1 player from each team takes 5 putts, at a location and format selected by the Tournament Director prior the start of The Nationals.
Scoring System

Points awarded per match 1 point for winning a match, ½ point for a tie, 0 points for losing a match etc.

Club with the most points at the end of 18 holes wins the match.
Prize Structure

Champion: Trophy, Medal, National Title, and FIFG Regional North American Championship participation.
